On Aug. 11, Cocos-BCX had a successful AMA hosted by Binance Sri Lanka, where Cocos-BCX’s Global Communities Contributor, Alvin, answered many great questions from the community. Q1 What achievements did Cocos-BCX complete in the first half of 2020?

Alvin: As you know Cocos-BCX has completed a series of milestones such as COCOS MainNet token swap, Cocos-BCX MainNet node election voting, Cocos-BCX MainNet Builders & Angels plan, DApp, regional communities building, etc. Thank you all for your support!

Since the official launch of the COCOS MainNet token swap, we have continuously worked on technologies docking with exchanges and wallets. At present, Binance, HOO Exchange and Bitpie Wallet have supported the COCOS main chain and its COCOS MainNet token swap successfully.

December 12, 2019: Cocos-BCX MainNet “Gang Rinpoche” was launched. Cocos-BCX team announced the MainNet Node policy and MainNet Builders & Angels policy. As of June 18, 2020, Cocos-BCX announced 48 MainNet ecosystem Builders & Angels, with 3 batches in total. Since the release of [MainNet Stage] COCOS ecosystem Builders & Angels incentive plan 2.0, we continuously receive applications from worldwide. After receiving applications, Cocos-BCX foundation regularly investigates and reviews the applicants quality in various aspects such as team reputation, social media status, community activity, etc.

On May 11, the Cocos-BCX MainNet node election and voting was officially launched. Cocos-BCX adopts the DPoS consensus mechanism, which maintains the Cocos-BCX network and ecological governance through community voting for 11 active BPs and 11 active councils. It provides computing power, bandwidth, storage support for the Cocos-BCX MainNet, internal proposals, parameter configuration, etc., promoting the healthy development of the Cocos-BCX MainNet ecosystem.

The voting entrance is CocosWallet and the official voting website (https://vote.cocosbcx.net/, this method requires a Cocospay plug-in wallet).

There have been so many interesting blockchain games launched on Cocos-BCX MainNet such as “Crypto Knights”、“Dragon Must Die”、“XPet”、“Panda Games”, etc. We will continue attracting more and more interesting and diverse DApps throughout 2020, enlarging the entire Cocos-BCX ecosystem.

Also, DAPPX and Dappbirds officially launched the COCOS wallet function.

Besides, DappReview officially launched the Cocos-BCX DApp section, which refers to adding the Cocos-BCX chain on its website sub-navigation menu. Users can experience the Cocos-BCX DApps through the DappReview official website.

So far, COCOS has been listed on more than ten exchanges like Binance, MXC exchange, BitKan exchange, etc.

Cocos-BCX NFT mall was officially launched, users can buy Cocos-BCX peripheral products such as T-shirts, hats using COCOS. Meanwhile, we continue launching holiday-related NFT airdrops, improving brand awareness and user engagement.

Q2: What’s the relationship between blockchain and game? Will the blockchain be an independent game platform or trading platform in future?

Alvin: I will answer this question by the following three questions:

1. Can blockchain games enter the mainstream game market, or be limited to gambling games?

At present, blockchain games are mainly gambling ones. The early Apple game Slot was the biggest category, and although it has become a niche, it is still very profitable. The game released by Tencent, Let’s Catch Demons, was said to be integrated with its Consortium blockchain. And We can imagine that the demon we get in the game is a token. Assume that there are 50 million active players in the game, of which 5 million have won the high-level demons.

At this time, Tencent develops another MMO, or a card or other game that can use these demon Tokens that can exist independently in the Tencent Consortium blockchain. These demons in the users’ wallet can also be used in the new game upon login. Then, the new game will get 5 million high quality, stable players in the shortest time.

Many people worry that game developers are unable to make money through this, while it’s quite the contrary. Because it can reduce the user acquisition cost for the game, and the same item can continue to be used across different games. And with cloud games, players can easily enter the game anytime anywhere on any device, and the life cycle of the game will also be extended. In the end, game developers will benefit the most.

It can be best proved byStadia, the cloud game streaming launched by Google during GDC, and Stadia Games and Entertainment, its new first-party game studio. Google believes this will be a $10 billion business in future.

With 5G technology, the life cycle of cloud game is extended. There will be millions of active users under the single worldview, and users can easily access to the game at any time through a Twitter link. With the underlying blockchain, the value of props, characters, and even accounts will continue to rise with the potential to be traded, preserved, and value-added.

2. Whether it is to put the entire game on chain, or put the in-game items on chain?

The mainstream game market is embracing the concept of blockchain. However, the process of the mainstream game development teams learning and developing with blockchain is much slower. In gaming, blockchain is a critical supportive technology, but not fundamental for the game running environment, hardware and network.

There’s no need for the entire game to be on chain. The same is true to gambling games. The concept of random numbers in gambling games is to replace the offline gambling market with a trustable, transparent and efficient settlement of blockchain technology. This, however, is a long process.

3. If it is to apply blockchain technology to games, are there any suitable game form for it in the early stage?

Therefore, we got the conclusion that to apply blockchain technology to games will be the trend. As for which kind of games is more suitable for the application of blockchain technology, gambling is a good direction, but this is not our original intention.

Esports is not a form suitable for us by now. It is particular about timely judgements on required performance and the balance design, which cannot support the value adding of in-game items. People are looking forward to a blockchain version Minecraft, which we think is an ideal form for blockchain to be applied. However, it’s not the best option in the short term, as the open world game is one of the categories that is extremely difficult to develop. Minecraft, now, has no open economic system and trading system. It is because any kind of function addition is an increase in the development difficulty.

Q3: Could you please tell us more about COCOS NFT?

Alvin: Cocos-BCX NFT mall was officially launched, users can buy Cocos-BCX peripheral products such as T-shirts, hats using COCOS. Meanwhile, we continue launching holiday-related NFT airdrops, improving brand awareness and user engagement.

Besides, the eighteenth China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Expo (ChinaJoy) in 2020 will be held as scheduled at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from July 31 to August 3. In conjunction with this ChinaJoy offline exhibition, the online display will be launched at the same time-the first “ChinaJoy Plus” cloud exhibition. What’s more, ChinaJoy Plus tickets have the NFT function, which is exclusively provided by Cocos-BCX. Users can obtain NFT by logging into ChinaJoy Plus.

Q4: Does Cocos-BCX plan to deploy DeFi?

Alvin: In recent months, the market value of the DeFi projects has exploded. It has caught the attention of the whole industry, and many investors do have made a lot of money. As a recent popular financial concept, distributed finance has three core elements similar to traditional finance: financial assets, financial institutions and financial tools.

As a complete decentralized network with complete transaction functions and asset characteristics, Cocos-BCX naturally has support for DeFi features. Compared with the single direction of DeFi project , Cocos-BCX has a stronger financial asset form, more efficient on-chain funds and Governance institutions and financial tools with the same experience level as traditional finance,The game field with the delivery and use of digital assets as the main form of circulation is even more suitable for DeFi, which may be the birthplace of the ideal distributed financial form.

Alvin:

Therefore, we will focus on promoting the application of NFT heterogeneous assets on Cocos-BCX in 2020. In China, we have already started cooperation with some ticket agencies. Globally, we also hope to reach cooperation with large-scale Internet platforms. Through the joint NFT exchange, game development CP, and our own technology, it is possible to make in-game item assets, ticket tokenization, and even asset chaining.

Q1 OCOS BCX total supply is 100 billion, this is a higher supply amount respectively, Do you have any plan to burn or buyback programe on COCOS to increase the value of the token?

Alvin:

First of all, Cocos-BCX aims to solve the future demand for digital content assetization and digital asset transactions in the game market, so we need to have enough tokens to prepare for the actual circulation. In the past 2 years, more and more projects have adopted staking, deflation model, and token burning. We are paying attention to all those methods.

However, from the perspective of operation and marketing, the market is still in an early stage, it should be decided by the application scenario whether to adopt a deflation model or token burning.

COCOS is circulating in the games, and we hope to realize the assetization of digital content. Today, COCOS does not really have the application scenario as we expect. At this time, if we simply shrink or burn COCOS to rise the currency price, it will contrary to our original intention. But when deflation or token burning is really needed, we will consider various ways to achieve. Here are two original intentions of COCOS: first, it conforms to the proper scenarios of the COCOS public chain, and maximizes to meet the use purpose. Second, it includes the interests of investors, communities, and all participants. In fact, this is not a question of whether do or not, but a question of when or how.

Q2 What are plans to involve partners in cocos?And what will be future partners of cocos?

Alvin:

Q3 Do you have any predictions about the market price of COCOS?

Alvin:

With the last COCOS unlock at the end of August and increased circulation of COCOS market, we expect users to trade more and more actively. But price depends on many elements, so I will not predict.

Q4 What is Cocos-BCX’s plan in 2020? Do you have a roadmap?

Alvin:

On February 27, 2020, we launched the Cocos-BCX MainNet token swap. At 18:00 (UTC+8) on April 02, 2020, Binance announced that the COCOS MainNet token swap had been completed, and the MainNet COCOS deposits, withdrawals and trading services had been opened. We will make sure every COCOS holder finish swap before the swap ended.

Cocos-BCX optimized rewards and position in [MainNet Stage] COCOS Ecosystem Buidlers & Angels Incentive Plan 1.0 and launched 2.0 version on March 24. As of April 15, Cocos-BCX announced 42 MainNet Ecosystem Buidlers & Angels and formally implements incentive plan to promote the healthy development of Cocos-BCX ecosystem.

On May 11, we launched Cocos-BCX MainNet node election voting officially. After the MainNet COCOS swap, the MainNet COCOS circulated throughout the entire ecosystem, so it would attract and more interesting and diverse DApps throughout 2020, enlarging the entire Cocos-BCX ecosystem.

Minimum Transaction Latency

Cocos-BCX comes with a syntax priority identifier for transactions. When a transaction is identified as immediate validation, the nodes will submit, process and broadcast the transaction immediately. The block generation and transaction execution become asynchronous for rapid asynchronous validation. Immediate response is another consensus priority. Sufficient High Concurrent Processing Capacity

Contract Virtual Machine

To ensure that the contract execution efficiency allows sound game experience for the users, Cocos- BCX comes up with a high-speed contract virtual machine scheme based on LUA for on-chain games. Different from existing rivals, the scheme features custom-made and optimized run-time environment and execution efficiency as well as language and API system that are the same as those of SDK, and interoperation interfaces for the chain and game execution environment. All these address the monotony in environment and poor flexibility and customization of blockchain contracts. The use of smart contract has gone beyond description of currency to content directly related to the games, probably including basic algorithms, setting, unit, scene and even map. The improved virtual machine not only supports more complex and flexible contract forms but greatly improve the execution efficiency of smart contracts.

Different witness delegation models to achieve small-scale consensus.

The development team designs various delegation templates based on the speed of witness so that single delegates need not witness and process all the run-time games at the same time but focus on witnessing and counting multiple games of the same type. Besides, under the templates, the submission of data or witnesses of different games are asynchronous. Each game will select a suitable delegation template. Data under the asynchronous templates is validated through on-chain database service. That is, users validate, store and obtain data on chain. This process is efficient enough to support operation of player data for large games.

Alvin:

Alvin:

At the end of August, last batch of COCOS unlock will be completed. The number of unlocks is 20% of the private sale, the previous two batch of COCOS unlock were 55% and 25% respectively.
